Sam's Cardboard House

For Christmas, Sam's FIRST, I really wanted to make him something. I love to make gifts. The thing is, I waited till last minute to do something for Sam. I looked through my books and everything either required time or to buy a lot of supplies. I then searched on Pinterest for DIY baby toys and I came across this cardboard house and I KNEW that's what I wanted to do! It'd be a fun little place just for Sam.

I knew my Honest diaper boxes would be great. Not only are they big, but they have a nice design on the outside and is teal on the inside. I got a roll of white duct tape to piece everything together and to contrast with the colors of the box. I modified the house a little because I needed to use two boxes instead of one. This house also folds up so we can put it away easily. Once put together, I put up a couple pictures of Sam and us and I put start stickers on the ceiling.

I also made a little mat for the bottom. And I couldn't help but make a cloud pillow just like the one in the tutorial. I had left over fuzzy white fabric that was perfect for a cloud. If Sam really likes being in his house, I was thinking maybe putting up a curtain so he can have some privacy.

I'm really happy how it turned out! It was a fun project. It's hard to tell if Sam is into it since he's still overwhelmed with Christmas and he's just a bit young. I like to give him his morning bottle in the house.

Nursery Tour!

We finally got around to hanging up the prints we got for Sam's room and we hung up the mobile. So I present Sam's nursery! I love his room. It's so calming and relaxing to me. I can't wait till Sam sleeps and uses this room more. Right now I'm starting to play with him in here, so he gets familiar with it.

The cuddling/ one day late night breast feeding/ one day reading corner. I love to hold Sam while sitting in the chair, looking out into our backyard. On the wall, I have this print and my mother's day present. On the floor we have the book bin. So many books!

The changing station and Benjamin the bear. On the shelf we have a dinosaur painting Rob made me a few years ago, a sock animal from the New York Comic Con, a Totoro stuffie from Japan, a vintage puzzle and Rob's baby shoes. Above the mirror we have a print  from Fab.com, a crocheted stuffie, a Chan Pie Gnon teether and  a little buddha.

Sam's crib. We got those dinosaur prints from Fab. I made the mobile and the blanket. All the furniture is from Ikea by the way.

A close up of the mobile I made for Sam. I'm quite proud how it turned out! I used the same yarn for the birds as his baby blanket.

Sprout's Baby Blanket

I finished crocheting sprout's baby blanket! I'm actually quite proud of it. Not only did I try a pattern that I've never done, this is also the biggest thing I've crocheted. I used the same yarn for the mobile, which I have yet to put the finishing touches on.

This is the pattern that I used. Pretty easy pattern.

Holly Hair Clip Tutorial

I made this fun little tutorial last year on my other blog for these holly hair clips. I thought I'd share it with this blog. Have fun!

Step 1: Gather your supplies.

• hair clip
• green felt
• 3 red buttons
• red and green embroidery thread
• needle, scissors and scrap paper

Step 2: Make a holly leaf out of paper. (you can skip this and directly cut on your felt if you've got mad skills)

Step 3: Trace and cut out 2 leaves from your felt.

Step 4: Stitch a line down the middle, this will also give it some stability.

Step 5: Sew the buttons on the bottom for the berries.

Step 6: Sew the leaves onto your hair clip. You can also glue it on if your hair clip doesn't bend to open.

And you're done!
